He'll learn that food is important to her. Not the eating so much as the sharing. Being able to offer people something tangible that says 'I care about you'. Being able to do something, anything that feels useful. The simple act of sharing a meal with someone means so much when everything else has been turned upside-down.
And that means she'll be bringing food more often than not. At least he'll be eating well?
