It always seemed to me like it was pretty obvious that keeping up the Falcon would be incredibly expensive. In my head, if he wasn't flying it somewhere, he was pretty well sinking nearly all of his money into working on it.
I think I was more amused at the idea that some guy, who will forget more about engineering than I'll ever know, took the time to try to quantify the cost of ownership and that some lady tried to write this up like it was news.
