117.6 - Fingerprints for Muse Revival
It’s surprising what those shoulders can still bare.
Right now, they support the weight of a young girl. A five-year-old who is trying to lean around Han’s head to get closer to the clari-crystalline before them. She reaches out in excitement to press her fingers to the viewport, leaving behind prints when she withdraws her hand.
“Careful.” He murmurs, as he adjusts to the squirms. “You could fall, you know.”
He can see the reflection of Allana Solo shaking her head; as if she were telling him that ‘no, grandpa, I know you’ll never let that happen.’
Together the pair look into the lush forestscape before them. The seasoned pilot can recognize the trees by sight and for a moment, he finds himself combing through the memories of hundreds of planets he’s been to, trying to remember where it was he might have saw them before.
Endor. On the forest moon.
A creature, three meters’ tall, starts skulking through the brush. Its skin is an almost colorless gray and rough. The only fur to speak of is a trail of it that follows a path along the length of its spine and culminates with an extravagant tuft on its head. With a mouth full of sharp teeth, it carries itself like a predator.
“What’s that one?”
“That’s a boar-wolf, honey.”
The animal moves through the exhibit as it is want to do. Unlike many of the creatures in the zoo, this one frequently looks back at the visitors looking in on it.
“It’s my favorite.” She decides.
Han has to hold in a snort. “They’re mean in person.”
“No.” The girl insists. “They just do what boar-wolves do.”
The answer tugs at the old man’s heart because it sounds very much like something Jacen would have said at that age.
