If Captain Han were completely in charge of this, you'd be sitting with a drink of water (or because it's your father, probably something stronger), taking one of any number of analgesics he's got squirreled away somewhere (medicine that no doubt 'fell' out of crate during a run) and he'd be using one of his torches to cauterize the wound.
There's a brief moment of worry on his face at the suggestion, but he shakes it off. Doubt has always been something that's easy enough to cast off for the Elder Solo; one he makes a decision, it's usually carried out with confidence. It's not until later, if ever, when he's reflecting, does he ask himself if he made the right call.
