Chewie could, and the grunt roughly translated to, "just in case..." The nod of his head meant that the 'just in case' applied to Han, his wayward son or the former stormtrooper.

The energy spent, Kylo's limbs were shaking. He held himself up on the bunk as he worked to steady his breath. As soon as he was able, and not a moment later, he straightened up.
