Let it be known that Han would never, ever say to his kid that he disappointed him, but he probably doesn't have to. When he was born and he'd spend time looking at him; wondering what the future had in store for the next Solo, he didn't picture him being a cog in the machine that destroyed a whole star system. That was for damn sure.
Really, he hoped that Ben would be the hero that Han never could quite be himself. On some level, he figures that it's what every parent ends up thinking. 'Be better than me.' More like the man he was named after than a scoundrel.
