It's hard on Han to watch Ben struggle and know that there's really not much he can do apart from what he's already doing. And be patient, which is not easy for him to do. In fact, it was a lack of patience that was sighted by Leia as a primary reason why it was better send their struggling son off to train with Luke.
A point that was kind of hard to argue against, truth be told.
