Level of calmness was the other reason Han figured that Chewbacca might be the better choice for the job of initially helping Ben to a bunk. Both for good and for bad it seemed as if being close to his father bought out some very powerful feelings in the force sensitive. It didn't take a keen insight in psychology to notice that he was far less conflicted by the Wookiee.
Rightfully so.
So Han is very quiet when he returns to Ben's side at first, anyway. And anyone who knows Han knows that it's not often that you'll catch him being quiet. He slides a metal chair over to the bedside and sits. For now.
"I don't really give a damn about the ship, kid." That ship anyway. Suffice to say there'd be a little more conflict if he lost the Millenium Falcon, but still. He doesn't even love his YT-1300 more than he loves his own flesh and blood.
