Han is kind of old and he has most definitely not kept up with what's fashionable among young men. He thinks the shroud pulled over his face is a bit much. Probably unneeded because Ben had already taken such pains to kept the true identity of Kylo Ren secret. But the truth is, Han doesn't know exactly what lengths Ben needs to go to stay safe from the First Order.
And if the kid wants to keep his face covered ... well he should be able to do that if he should want to. Even if your dad thinks it's kind of silly.
