Case in point: she knows he doesn't mean it to hurt, that she can't be kept, that she has responsibilities... but the idea that he doesn't want to keep her stings. The feeling is tamped down as soon as she recognizes it. Foolish, stupid thing to feel. His wanting that would only lead to pain for them both.
Besides, there are kisses, and that's a much better thing to think about. That's where she focuses her attention until she's certain she can speak without betraying herself. When she does speak, her words are strung out between more kisses. "I think that can be arranged. Especially with such a nice incentive."
