"I don't know if it's that easy, honey." He murmurs. It's not as if he would have to explain to her there's a bit of a process and start-up cost in starting to grow one's own food. That's a consideration. "A lot of the places that are that remote are ... harsh. Not full of things that are alive, you know? There's tons of planets where I come from where 75 percent or more of their food is imported from other worlds."
Not to mention, the skills required to work the land (if he could find some) aren't beyond his ability to learn, but it's not as if he acquired them in his life as a pilot. Same for hunting.
"If I was gonna run away, it would probably be here, I guess." Though, clearly, there's something that keeps him doing exactly that.
