Need is a very strong word. Overstated probably. Does he literally need her? No. He's pretty sure he doesn't literally need anybody. Even without Chewie he'd find ways to keep scraping by. Likely robbing a sullistan to pay off a twi'lek as he went along. Unless we're talking about the spring itself, in which case, then probably just about everyone needs her.
But he knows what he's drawn to.
The sky and the earth are unlikely friends, but together they make a beautiful horizon. He thought of that one night, pondering over her. Can't bring himself to try to say it out loud.
Anyway, it's funny that she thinks so hard upon what he said. Han himself doesn't figure that anything out of the mouth of a scoundrel is all that worth pondering over. The fact that she's a goddess, conversely, makes him feel like everything that she says is probably worth being written into a data pad and to be studied and saved for a thousand years or more. Then he occasionally catches himself thinking things like that and he knows ...
He knows that he's still got work to do in figuring out what the best way to handle her is. But he's trying. Damn if he isn't trying.
